HOW IT WORKS

A relay team can consist of two or three people.

Each member of the relay team completes one or two of the three disciplines in the triathlon.

The swimmer completes the swim, then the swimmer passes the electronic chip to the cyclist inside the cycle transition area.

The cyclist completes the cycle course and passes the electronic chip to the runner in the transition area.

The runner completes the run and hands in the electronic chip at the finish line.

All team members can cross the finish line together and collect their medals.

Awards

We award first place in the Female Relay Event and first place in the Open/Mixed Category Relay Event.

All Open/Mixed Category teams can consist of two or three people, male or female.

Do I need to wear a wetsuit?

If you are taking part in the Olympic or Olympic Relay, wetsuits are compulsory.

For the Sprint, Sprint Relay, Super Sprint and Fun distances, wetsuits are not compulsory. However, if you wish to wear one for these distances then that isn’t a problem.

Don't want to go IT alone?

Why not take part as a relay team of 2 or 3 and share the challenge of swim, bike and run!
Just simply pick the discipline that you love and get your friends and family to choose what they'd like to do to complete your relay team.

Birmingham Triathlon - 2024

This was my first and will definitely not be my last. Felt very well organised and carefully thought out. Course was well signed and the atmosphere from marshalls, competitors and spectators was brilliant. Sutton park is a beautiful venue.

Birmingham Triathlon - 2024

It was my first open-water triathlon and thought the organisation was brilliant. A big thank you to all the organisers and volunteers. The signs were just right, the marshall in place, the helping hands in and out of the water, the smiling faces and race day support, all of you were big stars, thanks.
